WAG Call for Artists for Dual July Exhibitions

Wilkes Art Gallery is putting together a new exhibition called “Minute: A Miniature Art Exhibition” that will feature in the Kulynych Gallery alongside the 45th Annual Northwest Artists’ Exhibition in the Main Gallery.

These exhibitions will be on display from July 19 to August 28, with an opening night reception on July 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
For Minute, the Gallery is calling for artists of all ages to participate! Buy a 4in x4-inch stretched canvas from the Gallery (or provide your own), create a miniature masterpiece in your preferred medium, and submit it into the exhibition on July 9 or July 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The prospectus is available at the Gallery and on our website. This packet provides all guidelines and mandatory paperwork needed to participate. A price of $13 covers the purchase of one stretched canvas (provided by Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff) and entry fee for that canvas. If you provide your own stretched canvas, the entry fee will be $10 per canvas. There is a maximum of four submissions per individual. For this exhibition, People’s Choice voting will decide the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award winners.

For the 45th Annual Northwest Artists’ Exhibition, the Gallery is calling for artists who live in or near Northwestern North Carolina and are 16 years of age or older to submit original fine art works into the following divisions: Division I: Paintings, Drawings, Lithographs, etc., Division II: Sculpture, Pottery, Metals, etc., and Division III: Mixed Media, Collage, Fibers. Submissions will be taken on July 9 and July 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each artist may only submit three pieces in each division for a total of nine pieces. The prospectus is available at the Gallery and on our website. This packet provides all guidelines and mandatory paperwork needed to participate. All work will be judged by our juror, Betty Powell and awards will be given out opening night at 6:30 p.m. Awards include 1st place ($200), 2nd place ($150), and 3rd place ($75) in each division, Best in Show- Margaret Bloomfield Award ($500) and Most Creative Imagination- Edith Marie Carter Award ($100). People’s Choice voting will also take place for the Northwest Artists’ Exhibition and will only be held on July 19th and 20th. The People’s Choice Award ($100) will be shared on Tuesday, July 23rd by 5 p.m.
