A Look at His Most Expensive Investments in Art

October 15, 20253 Mins Read

Jeff Bezos has really nice things. This reportedly includes an art collection worth at least $210.3 million.

Of course, this is expected, considering the size of the Amazon founder’s fortune. As of Sept. 14, 2025, Bezos was the fourth-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $240.1 billion, according to Forbes.

He’s used his wealth to adorn his walls with museum-quality art. Keep reading to learn which three seriously expensive pieces Bezos is rumored to own.

‘Femme à la montre’ by Pablo Picasso

An oil painting on canvas, “Femme à la montre” by Pablo Picasso was reportedly purchased Jeff Bezos at a 2023 Sotheby’s auction, according to Artnet. This makes him only the third owner of the piece, after it was first sold by the artist in 1966.

Painted in August 1932, the piece remained a valued part of Picasso’s personal collection for decades. The painting is recognizable for its bright blue background, meticulous detail and the inclusion of a wristwatch.

The wristwatch is notable, as one of the first times Picasso included this accessory in a painting was of a 1917 portrait of his wife Olga, a year before they were married. Fifteen years later, he painted a wristwatch again in Femme à la montre, but on the portrait of a new woman who won his heart.

‘Hurting the Word Radio #2’ by Ed Ruscha

Painted in 1964, Bezos added “Hurting the Word Radio #2” by Ed Ruscha to his collection at a 2019 Christie’s auction, according to Artnet. Based in Los Angeles, Ruscha is known for creating a version of pop art featuring only text.

Once a commercial artist, Ruscha was inspired by advertising billboards, which is thought to be the basis behind this work. In the oil-on-canvas piece, the word “Radio” is written in bright yellow paint, set against a brilliant sky-blue background, suggestive of California’s climate.

Bezos is only the second owner of the painting. It was first purchased by a couple in the early 1970s, according to Christie’s. Other “text” paintings in Ruscha’s collection include works such as “Flash,” “Voltage,” “Electric,” “Honk,” “Buick,” “Noise” and “Smash.”

‘Vignette 19’ by Kerry James Marshall

Bezos purchased “Vignette 19” by Kerry James Marshall in 2019, according to Artnet. Signed with the artist’s initials and dated 2014, the piece is an acrylic painting on PVC.

Part of Marshall’s acclaimed series of “Vignette” paintings, the work celebrates the ordinary romance of three Black couples. Featuring springtime visuals, the enraptured couples, who exist separately from one another, are framed by a whimsical heart. The piece emphasizes the intimacy and love between each couple.

Started in 2003, the “Vignette” series — based on Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s late-18th-century series “The Progress of Love” — is intended to establish a new sense of Black domesticity, according to Sotheby’s.
