February 16, 20251 Min Read

Police on Monday are investigating a case of real estate fraud involving a 78-year-old, for which two suspects are in custody.

According to police, the 78-year-old landowner reported that he discovered a plot he owned in the Limassol district had been sold to a company for €600,000 in cryptocurrencies on February 11.

Investigations revealed that forged documents had been submitted to the land registry while the complainant’s signature had also been forged.

Police secured testimony against a 45-year-old and a 46-year-old, who were arrested on Sunday.

They are being investigated for the crimes of fraudulent transactions in relation to real estate, extortion of money under false pretences, impersonation, forgery and circulation of a false document, money laundering and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Limassol CID is furthering the investigation.
