Martin Lewis has issued a car finance update as the misselling scandal continues. The BBC Sounds podcast star took to his Twitter/X page where he discussed with fans and followers the latest developments in the car finance misselling investigation.
Mr Lewis, an ITV regular, said: “Have you put in a complaint about car finance reclaiming? If so pls fill in this 2 min survey, so we can see what’s happening to better help you with the next steps…” In reply, a Twitter/X user told him: “I put in 5 complaints, all replied within 10 weeks and 4/5 have confirmed they did have a discretionary commission arrangement so I’m hopeful.”
“I’ve used the tool and have been contacted to say I have a claim. But I have to wait till September for any more info? Has anyone else had this?,” a second said. A third wrote: “I put in a complaint to Vauxhall who said they couldn’t find my loan agreement but to phone a number they gave me.

“I did and they found my contract reference number within about 30 seconds. So folks, it’s worth giving them a ring if they say they can’t find your agreement.” Another said: “Responded! Basically Ford Financial Services said ‘don’t know, but here’s the address for the Financial Ombudsman Service’.”
Another said: “Had emails to say I was subject to commission from Barclays partner finance & Close brothers. Black horse have just said they will give me an update in 28 days (had that same email now three times).” Another typed: “Five emails sent across 4 different financial businesses, 3 came back confirming and advising now waiting on ruling in September, 2 came back negative.
“One of each from CA Finance so not necessarily correlation between finance business and result.” Another commented: “Done, Black Horse got back to me and kept me informed, PSA Stellantis had one acknowledgement email in March nothing since.”
“My wife has just completed the survey. Letter back from Santander this week confirming that there was a DCA in place. She have a final response in September. She had car finance in 2009 and would have had no idea or how to complain without your advice . Thanks,” another said.
