Both Lanyon Homestead and the Gorman House Arts Centre are important places for local artists and the wider community and the new investment will help to improve access to these sites and enhance their safety.
The former Shearer’s Sleeping Quarters at the heritage-listed Lanyon Homestead will be fully restored and adaptively reused as spaces for artist studios within a beautiful natural setting at the foot of the Brindabella Ranges, sure to inspire artists and visitors alike.
Gorman House Arts Centre will receive a $7.9 million upgrade, paving the way for current and future artists to benefit from the centre.
Celebrating its centenary in 2024, the funding will go towards critical building upgrades, including improving theatre and performance spaces, a new café space and enhancing accessibility, safety and energy efficiency.
Consultation with resident arts organisations and the community has been underway, with work due to start this year.
